About Big Gee:
A Sixties Baby from Harlesden, North West London:
Born and bred in Harlesden, North West London, I’m a proud sixties baby who completed my schooling at Aylestone High School in the same vibrant community. Early on, I explored various paths, including a stint as a motor mechanic, but it wasn’t long before I realized my true calling lay elsewhere.
A Journey Through Social Outreach:
For the first two years, I trained as a motor mechanic, but soon realized this wasn’t for me. The following five years were dedicated to working with delinquent teenagers, primarily from ethnic minorities. I spent a significant amount of time doing outreach on some of the roughest local housing estates. This impactful period shaped and molded me, instilling a passion for making a difference in the lives of others.
Entrepreneurial Dreams:
From early on, I recognized my inclination towards dreaming big and generating ideas for entrepreneurial ventures. This led me to explore various business avenues, driven by a desire to rise above the challenges of tough streets.
A Passion for Music:
Throughout my life, I’ve harboured a deep passion for music. I’ve been a radio presenter and DJ for many years, using the power of sound to connect with diverse audiences.
Diverse Career Ventures:
In my varied career, I’ve delved into different fields, including being a mobile phone retailer in the early 1980s, a qualified mortgage broker from the 1990s into the 2000s, a wine bar and restaurant owner, and a private investigator.
Full-Time Caregiver and Mentor:
For the past 11 years and counting, I’ve dedicated myself as a full-time caregiver to my mother, who is a dementia sufferer. During this challenging period, I’ve found strength and support through mentoring by friends who’ve navigated similar paths. In turn, I’ve become a mentor for other families facing the complexities of dementia.
Self-Taught Creative Entrepreneur:
During these challenging times, I’ve home-trained myself in podcasting and podcast coaching, graphic designing, content creation, and social media branding and marketing. These skills have become essential tools in my creative arsenal.
